Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Dack has praised the club's decision to hand a new and improved contract to manager Tony Mowbray, report the club's official website

Mowbray currently has the club sat in 10th place and signed a new three-year deal at Ewood Park last week, keeping him at the club until at least 2021.

“It’s brilliant news for the club and the whole team that the boss is staying long-term," Dack said.

"He’s a brilliant man manager. He knows how to get the best out of players.

"With me, he knows how to get into my mind and knows what makes me tick."

Having taken over at the club in 2017, after the sacking of Owen Coyle, Mowbray so nearly steered the club to safety that season but were relegated to League One on goal difference.

But, after signing Dack from Gillingham, he fired the club back into the second-tier at the first time of asking with Dack scooping the League One Player of the Year award after scoring 18 goals and assisting nine more.

The attacker has carried on where he left off this season, racking up nine goals and three assists in just 17 Championship matches.

The verdict

This will give Blackburn fans a much-needed boost.

There will be a slight resignation around them, I am sure, that Dack will eventually leave them to play in the Premier League.

But this quote at least shows that he will be more than happy to stay with the club until the right moment comes and does not look like forcing a move any time soon.
