Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has joined League One club Bradford City on a season-long loan deal, as confirmed by the Bantams on their official website.

The 20-year-old, who is yet to make a senior appearance for his parent club, is no stranger to life in the third tier having played 18 games for Carlisle United in 2013-14, though he could not prevent the Cumbrians from being relegated to League Two.

The former England Under-19 international has also been loaned out to Darlington, Alfreton Town and Burton Albion during his professional career, and is the second Black Cat to sign for Bradford since last season ended after midfielder Billy Knott agreed a two-year deal in May.

Pickford could make his Bradford debut on Tuesday in a pre-season friendly against Farsley AFC, and becomes the sixth addition made by manager Phil Parkinson this summer; as well as Knott, Matthew Dolan, Gary Liddle, Alan Sheehan and Billy Clarke have also moved to Valley Parade on free transfers.
