Bradford should sign this underrated midfielder to replace Josh Cullen next season

Bradford City are currently preparing for their most important match in recent history.

After years in the bottom two divisions of English professional football, the Bantams could earn a place back in the Championship if they can see off the challenge of Millwall at Wembley later this month.

Bradford kept it tight to narrowly beat Fleetwood Town 1-0 over two legs in the League One play-off semi-finals and now they must beat Millwall to reach the second tier again.

Integral to their success this season has been their tidy central midfielder Josh Cullen.

On loan from West Ham, the Republic of Ireland under-21 international keeps things ticking over in midfield and demonstrates an excellent passing range, as well as being able to do the defensive work too.

Alongside Romain Vincelot, Cullen makes Bradford’s midfield one of the best in the league.

West Ham might look to use their star youngster next season and that will leave a major hole in the middle of the park that Bradford must fill.

While most of their focus will be concentrated on picking up that vital win at Wembley to reach the Championship, there will already be some thought going into their transfer business.

If West Ham don’t let Cullen return, then Bradford should sign Jake Reeves.

The 23-year-old is the star man at AFC Wimbledon and does a similar job to Cullen in central midfield.

The former Brentford midfielder is comfortable in possession and able to do his defensive and offensive duties in the middle.

If Cullen doesn’t come back, Bradford should look to replace him with Jake Reeves, who is still getting better each year.
