Bradford could challenge for the title if they replace Josh Cullen with this 24-year-old

With Bradford narrowly missing out on Championship football following their Play-off final loss against Millwall, Bantams boss Stuart McCall will certainly have to dig deep into the transfer market if he is to guide them to domestic success in this upcoming campaign.

A key member of the Bantams squad for the past season and a half has been Irish midfielder Josh Cullen.

Unfortunately for Bradford, after two loan spells from West Ham, the energetic midfielder has returned to his parent club, with the Hammers not looking to send him back out on-loan.

Cambridge United’s Luke Berry, who is valued at £128k on transfermarkt, would be the perfect player to fill in the hole left by Cullen.

Making over 200 appearances for the U’s, and currently in his second spell at the club, Berry has been a consistent performer and fans’ favourite.

After a failed move to Yorkshire side Barnsley, Berry moved back to the Abbey Stadium and re-ignited his career with his boyhood club.

This season especially, Berry has exceeded all expectations and from what started as a deep-role in Cambridge’s set-up, has become one of the U’s main source for goals.

The talented midfield man scored a remarkable 22 goals all season, which guided them up the League Two table and his team just narrowly missed out on a Play-off spot.

Berry’s overall great stamina and determination to win the ball, and control the tempo of the game, would make him a stand-out signing for any League One club, and with some experience under his belt, a possible Championship quality midfielder.

If McCall is able to receive any funds from the owners at the club, spending it on a player such as Berry would be a fantastic investment, and would certainly improve their chances of returning back to England’s second tier.

Bradford fans… What do you think? Would you be happy with the signing of Berry? Do you think the move could be funded by the club? Let us know in the comments below…
