According to a reliable football journalist, Bradford City will take a look at free agent Gordon Greer during pre-season.

Bradford City are set to take Gordon Greer with them on their pre-season tour to Austria as they assess him before potentially offering him a contract, Alan Nixon has revealed.

Gordon Greer is available on a free transfer after he was released by Blackburn Rovers at the end of last season.

The veteran defender played 25 games in all competitions during his one year stay at Ewood Park.

During his career, the Glaswegian has played for Clyde, Stockport County, Kilmarnock, Doncaster Rovers, Swindon Town and Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 11-cap Scotland international played over 200 games for Brighton in a six year stay on the south coast, which came to an end last summer.

Bradford City are hoping that Gordon Greer’s experience will help their side compete for promotion again after play-off defeats in consecutive seasons.

Bradford boss Stuart McCall knows his fellow countryman Greer well and could swoop for the free agent if he impresses in Austria.

The 36-year-old is now set to be handed a chance to show what he is capable of in pre-season training as the Bantams continue to look for a new centre-half to replace Rory McArdle.

McArdle ended his five year stay at Valley Parade to join Scunthorpe United this summer.

Bradford fans – would Greer be a good signing? What could he bring to your side? Let us know below…
