It's been a good season so far for Bradford City with them firmly in the top six in Sky Bet League One at the moment.

The Bantams were always going to have to pick themselves up quickly from their play-off disappointment of last year if they wanted to challenge again and Stuart McCall has done a fine job in helping them do that.

Whether or not they can reel Shrewsbury and Wigan in is another matter, but a play-off spot really does look possible once again.

January, then, could provide the perfect opportunity for the men from West Yorkshire to strengthen their bid further and we'd argue that signing Madger Gomes from local rivals Leeds United might be worthwhile.

A youngster at Liverpool, Gomes moved to the Whites in the summer but he has failed to cut it so far for the club and may be open to a move one step further down in English football.

Certainly, though, it would still be a more than competitive and strong level for him to compete at and it's those minutes that can often ignite a young players' career when it is threatening to fizzle out.

An energetic midfielder, at the age of 20 he'd surely buzz about the Valley Parade pitch and with them already possessing a hard-working, technically sound side, he'd fit in nicely.

Perhaps best of all, though, he is hungry to make something of himself.

He snapped up the opportunity to go to Leeds despite it being a step down from Liverpool and he'd surely be excited to play senior football for Bradford, something that should serve him well if he signed.
