Bradford City narrowly missed out on a return to the Championship after a mammoth 13 year absence from England’s second tier following their play-off defeat to Millwall, and manager Stuart McCall must rally his troops this summer if another promotion bid is to be launched.

The Bantams will feel they have one of the strongest squads in the division, but several new faces must be added in order to inject renewed force and vigour into the side from west Yorkshire.

City had the joint second best defence in the division last season, but McCall must look to add further goals to the squad if he is to start turning an eye watering 19 draws, into wins.

Birmingham City’s Clayton Donaldson could be available this summer despite a year remaining on his contract, with new boss Harry Redknapp set to bring a number of his own faces into the squad.

33-year-old Donaldson has been prolific throughout his career, and his goals helped fire former club Brentford to promotion from League One in 2014.

Entering the latter stages of his career, the Bradford-born player should consider a return home, and his prowess could fire his hometown club back to the Championship.

Last season’s top scorer Jordy Hiwula bagged only nine goals in the league, and if Bradford are to progress, they need to bring in a more consistent goalscorer.

Jamaican international Donaldson should be that man.
