Bradford City are on the verge of returning to the Sky Bet Championship, with only Millwall standing between Stuart McCall’s side and a place back in the second-tier.

A 1-0 aggregate victory over Fleetwood Town secured Bradford’s place at Wembley on May 20th, where they will face Millwall in the play-off final.

Should the Bantams win promotion at Wembley it will be the first time they have competed in the second-tier since the 2003/04 campaign.

However, McCall will have to significantly strengthen his squad during pre-season if Bradford are to stand a chance of surviving in the Championship.

One player Bradford have been linked with in recent weeks is Newcastle United’s Adam Armstrong, who is set for another loan deal away from St James’ Park this summer.

McCall was interested in bringing Armstrong to Valley Parade last year, but the 20-year old instead moved to Championship side Barnsley, where he scored six goals for the Tykes over the course of the season.

Should Bradford gain promotion, they must do whatever it takes to get the talented Armstrong to Valley Parade, as he could seriously boost their survival hopes.

During the 2015/16 campaign, Armstrong scored 20 goals for Coventry City in League One, showing he was ready to make the step up to the Championship, even though the striker has struggled at times with Barnsley this year.

Rafa Benitez has warned Armstrong he wants to see more from him in the Championship, and with that in mind, he would be a magnificent addition to McCall’s squad, particularly with a point to prove to his parent-club.
