Bradford City have confirmed that Nathaniel Knight-Percival and Matthew Kilgallon have both agreed contract extensions at Valley Parade.

The defensive duo have been with the Bantams for little over a year, and had less than 12 months remaining on their respective deals in West Yorkshire.

The Bantams have moved to hand both Knight-Percival and Kilgallon one-year extensions, meaning they are now contracted with the club until the summer of 2019.

Knight-Percival, 30, has partnered Kilgallon, 33, in the heart of defence in all 12 of Bradford’s Sky Bet League One fixtures so far this season, with the duo helping Stuart McCall’s side to an impressive start.

McCall’s side have kept four clean sheets from their opening 12 fixtures, with the performance of Knight-Percival and Kilgallon helping the Bantams to third in the League One table at this current time.

Bradford have 26 points, and sit just two points behind Wigan Athletic, who occupy the second automatic promotion place in League One.

The Bantams picked up an impressive 4-1 victory over MK Dons in their last League One fixture, and will be looking to build on that this weekend when they are once again on the road, travelling to Bury.

The Verdict

This is excellent news for Bradford, as the experienced defensive duo have been vital in helping Stuart McCall’s side bounce back from last season’s play-off final defeat.

Although Bradford have enjoyed an impressive start to the season, McCall will want more from his side in the coming weeks, and with the future of Knight-Percival and Kilgallon sorted, they can press on.

If the defensive duo can continue to impress, there is no reason why Bradford can’t push for automatic promotion this season.
