Bradford City have announced that James Vaughan has left the club to join League One side Tranmere Rovers on loan for the remainder of this year's campaign.

The 31-year-old has been in impressive form so far this season for the Bantams, and has nine goals to his name for Gary Bowyer's men.

Bradford City are currently sat seventh in the League Two table, and will be hoping they can win a timely promotion back into League One this season.

But they have struggled for consistency for much of this year's campaign, and will know that they have to improve if they're to stand any chance of returning to the third tier of English football.

Vaughan was left out of the Bradford squad in their last game against Cheltenham Town, which dropped a huge hint that he could leave the club in the near future.

He'll be hoping that he can make a positive impact with Tranmere Rovers in League One for the rest of the season though, as they look to steer themselves clear of the relegation zone.

Bradford are next in action on Saturday, when they take on Oldham Athletic in what could potentially be a tricky test for Gary Bowyer's side.

The Verdict:

This is a bizarre move by the Bantams this month.

Vaughan is their top goalscorer this season, and you would have thought that they would have done everything they can to keep him at the club.

But Gary Bowyer seemingly isn't too keen on him, and it'll be interesting to see whether they replace him before the January transfer window closes.

If they don't keep hold of Eoin Doyle either this month, then I have serious doubts as to whether the Bantams will win promotion back into League One this season.
