Bradford City have today confirmed that Kian Scales has departed the football club to join city rivals Bradford Park Avenue on a short-term youth work experience loan deal.

Scales has not featured this campaign for the Bantams as they look to make an immediate return to Sky Bet League One following their relegation last season.

City currently find themselves in 9th place in League Two just four points behind Northampton Town who are occupying the final play-off position.

He joins Bradford Park Avenue who currently find themselves at the bottom of the National League North having accumulated just 20 points this season, sitting 12 points away from safety and it appears as though they will be playing their football in the division below next season.

The move will come as a good one for Scales who is still looking to dip his toe into the world of senior football and his time with BPA will offer him that.

To be able to attain a graduate of an academy within the EFL, Park Avenue will be grateful and will be hoping that he will be able to make a difference between now and the end of the campaign.

His impact at BPA will be delayed however following the suspension of the Vanarama National League and the National Leagues North and South.

The 5th and 6th tier did play their games over the weekend whilst the Premier League and EFL postponed theirs, but the rapid growing concern of the health of the population has given them no choice but to suspend action until April the 3rd.

The Verdict"

If Scales gets to pull on the Bradford Park Avenue shirt in a competitive fixture, then it will prove to be a great move for the youngster. It is often a stereotype that clubs in the EFL will send their young players into non-league for a bit of game time as well as for them to understand the physicality of the men’s professional game.

But the National League North is far better of that in terms of the ability of the players in the division, there are a lot of teams who are aspiring to win promotion and then begin to push for a place in the EFL.

Over the last few years this has been indicated by the number of teams that gave moved into a full-time basis as they pursue their goals of becoming Football League clubs. This loan spell will give Bradford City an indication as to what level Scales is currently at which will allow them to create the right pathway for him next season.
