Bradford have confirmed that they have competed the signing of goalkeeper Luke McGee on a loan deal from Portsmouth until the end of the 2019/20 season.

McGee has struggled for game time with Kenny Jackett's side in recent seasons, and will be hoping he can make a good impression whilst at Valley Parade this term.

Bradford have recently confirmed that Richard O'Donnell is set for a spell in the treatment room through injury, and that has seen the Bantams move swiftly in finding a replacement for their first choice goalkeeper.

Speaking in an interview with Bradford's official website after his arrival, McGee expressed his delight at completing the move to Bradford, and highlighted the main reasons as to why he wanted to pursue a move to the League Two side.

"It feels really really good to be here and I cannot wait to get going. As soon as I got the call it was somewhere I knew I wanted to come, with the size of the club and fanbase."

Bradford boss Gary Bowyer was pleased to secure McGee's signature as well, and thanked Portsmouth for allowing the shot-stopper to head out on loan to them for the remainder of this year's league campaign.

"We are delighted at being able to bring Luke in and thank Portsmouth for allowing him to join us. He brings experience of playing in Sky Bet League One - in front of big crowds."

McGee could be in line to make his Bradford City debut this weekend, when the promotion-chasing Bantams take on struggling Scunthorpe United at Valley Parade, in a game that they'll be expected to come away with three points from.

The Verdict:

I think this is a smart move by Bradford to be honest.

McGee will have a point to prove as he's been frozen out of the Portsmouth team in recent seasons, which will have been frustrating for the shot-stopper.

With Richard O'Donell being ruled out through injury, it means that McGee will get the game time he needs to impress away from Fratton Park this season.
