Bradford City striker Andy Cook took to Twitter earlier this week to dismiss speculation that was growing online that he might be moving to Barrow.

The forward is back in training with his Bantams team-mate as they look to have a positive start to the Sky Bet League Two campaign at the end of next month under Mark Hughes.

However, it was being claimed on social media that he had been spotted in the club shop at Barrow, prompting some to suggest he might be making a switch from Valley Parade to Holker Street.

The striker moved to address such speculation on Twitter, though, with him saying via his own account: “You know something I don’t!” before adding the laughing emoji.

The Verdict

Evidently, a case of mistaken identity has gotten out of hand and it's at this time of year in the football calendar where that can happen more than most.

People think they might have seen a player somewhere ahead of a transfer and quickly throw it out there on social media, which naturally causes a stir.

Thankfully, though, enough of the players have their own accounts to put things straight, and that is what Cook has done undoubtedly to the relief of Bradford fans.
