Ian Holloway and Queens Park Rangers find themselves in a luxury position in the Sky Bet Championship, with very little threat of relegation at Loftus Road.

Whilst QPR haven’t seriously challenged the top-six this season, they’ve avoided a fierce relegation battle and heading into this weekend’s international break, Holloway’s side sit 15th.

There are eight fixtures of the season remaining in the Championship, with QPR’s season drifting towards a mid-table finish by the time May comes.

The likelihood is that QPR, along with a lot of clubs that sit around them in the Championship table, will already have one eye on the summer and the transfer window that looms.

Holloway will be keen to add to his squad, but will also be well aware of the threat of losing some of this year’s key men.

Here at FLW, we take a look at TWO transfer sagas we believe await the club in the summer…

Freeman has been at the heart of everything QPR have done well this season, with the midfielder grabbing five goals and a further 11 assists in the Championship.

The 26-year-old is sure to attract interest in the summer, particularly after dragging QPR along for large parts.

Holloway will know how important the midfielder is, but is sure to be preparing himself for bids by the time the summer comes.

Smithies has really come on during his time at Loftus Road, becoming one of the Championship’s most consistent goalkeepers.

Across the Championship there are other clubs who are in desperate need of a new goalkeeper going forward and plenty of those clubs could be eyeing Smithies.

The 28-year-old could well attract some interest.
