It is shaping up into a huge couple of months for Bolton Wanderers in the Sky Bet Championship, with Phil Parkinson looking to guide his side to safety on their return to the second-tier.

The Trotters are currently sitting 19th in the table, but have given themselves a huge boost in the race for survival by beating Aston Villa last time out in the Championship.

Adam Le Fondre’s goal at the Macron Stadium gave Parkinson’s side a 1-0 victory over Villa, which left Bolton in 19th and six points clear of the relegation zone heading into the final eight fixtures of the season.

Following this weekend’s international break, Bolton are back in action and looking to claim another big scalp in Leeds United, when they travel to Elland Road on Good Friday.

Of course, Bolton’s focus will be on their fight for survival in the Championship, but whatever division they find themselves in, Parkinson is facing a big summer at the Macron Stadium.

Here at FLW, we take a look at TWO transfer sagas that we expect Bolton to be facing…

Clough returned to the Macron Stadium on-loan in January, having found his opportunities with Nottingham Forest extremely limited.

The forward is well out of favour at the City Ground, with Aitor Karanka happy to let Clough return to Bolton, where he first broke onto the scene.

The 23-year-old has hardly set the world alight since his return to Bolton, but there is no doubt that the Macron is where he plays his best football.

Parkinson could be tempted to bring him back again in the summer.

Vela has previously attracted interest from the likes of Leeds United, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday, whilst Brighton and Hove Albion have also been linked in the past.

The midfielder will have just one year remaining on his contract in the summer, and should a suitable offer come Bolton’s way, Vela could be on the way out.

Parkinson will be bracing himself for interest in the 24-year-old.
