Garry Monk looks to have arrived at St Andrews at just the right time.
A season of free fall has seen them land on the very edge of the League One relegation fight, but the super hero seems to have swooped in at just the right time.
Since his arrival they've been beaten by Cardiff City, just, as well as registering a fine 3-0 win against Hull.
With Ipswich, Bolton and Burton up next, it is conceivable that the Blues could be home and dry by the time the rest of the relegation candidates are contemplating a trip to Accrington Stanley.
Monk will spend the summer remodelling, rebuilding and shaping the side into something akin to a top half squad.
There will be comings and goings, that much is certain.
Monk has a lot of contacts after spells at other clubs and his backroom staff is testament to the fact he's willing to use them.
Almost all of the staff he brought in have worked with him before.
In any walk of life, people work for people and managers often poach staff they worked with before.
With that in mind, here are two transfer sagas that are nailed on to feature at St Andrews this summer....
Hernandez has worked with Monk at both Leeds and Swansea and is out of contract at Elland Road this summer.
He's got some pedigree having been at Valencia, but it is fair to say he's often not hit the heights his career once promised. He has been solid at Leeds this season though and he is probably the one player they wouldn't want to lose on a free transfer.
He's creative, he has a lick of flair and a penchant for the unpredictable and if he is harnessed correctly, he could quite easily star in a play off chasing side. That is Monk's end game next year which is why he's highly likely to move for the player.
It's not all about the incomings, but just as much about who he might look to move on. With one Spaniard potentially coming in, I think much of the talk will be about another one leaving.
Jota arrived for a club-record fee of £6m in the summer, money which has not been well spent. He's struggled for goals and often looks lost in Birmingham's relegation-haunted side. He did start the win against Hull City, he even scored twice, but that took his total to four in 30 appearances. That isn't the return Monk will be asking from his strikers.
It is highly unlikely Birmingham will recoup the £6m they paid for him, after this season they'll be lucky to get a quarter of that, but there's also his wage impact to consider. Monk is likely to want to bring his own centre forward in and I suspect Jota will be making way for the new faces. Whether they can shift him or not is set to be another transfer saga at St Andrews.
