It’s going to be a nervy end to the season for Barnsley and Jose Morais, as they look to battle off the threat of relegation in the Sky Bet Championship.
There are eight fixtures remaining following the international break, with Barnsley in deep relegation trouble following five Championship fixtures without a victory.
Morais’ side sit 21st during this week’s break, but are hovering nervously above the relegation zone, level on points with a resurgent Birmingham City, who are now under the management of Garry Monk.
The Tykes have some tough fixtures coming up towards the end of the season, and even with eight games still to go, there is no indication of what division they will find themselves in next season.
We are expecting a busy summer of transfer business whatever division Barnsley find themselves in, with Morais sure to be keen to add a fresh look to the squad he has inherited at Oakwell.
Here are TWO transfer sagas we believe await Barnsley…
Yiadom has dominated the last two transfer windows at Oakwell, with the defender seemingly on his way out of Barnsley for definite this summer at the expiration of his contract.
The defender has been good during his time at Barnsley, but there looks to be only a very thin chance that he will be sticking around.
Supporters will have a watchful eye on where Yiadom ends up next season.
McBurnie is on-loan at Oakwell, where he is impressing and earning plenty of praise from across the country.
The Swansea City striker is unlikely to feature in Wales next season if they retain their Premier League status, meaning another move back to the Championship could be on the cards.
You’d imagine Barnsley would have to still be in the Championship to get McBurnie back at Oakwell, but if they can survive, Morais will be keen to link back up with the striker.
