Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce is unbeaten after taking over the reigns at Hillsborough, after a win at Ipswich was followed up by a draw against struggling Reading last time out.
These results leave the Owls in 16th place in the Championship, 11 points off the play-off places and 13 places above the drop-zone.
Bruce though must already be looking ahead to the summer, when he will have the chance to stamp his own mark on the squad, but if he has a clear-out, who should stay and who should go?
“Boyd goes. Nuhui goes.
“Hutchinson stays. Reach stays.
“Other than that, there’s still places up for grabs.
“Much depends on who they can bring in.”
“Abdi has got to be first out of the door.
“He is one of a number of players that simply don’t have a future with the club, and Bruce will need to move the deadwood on as quickly as possible.
“The likes of Fernando Forestieri and Barry Bannan should be the sort of names that they are looking to keep hold of in the summer.”
“For me, the likes of George Boyd and David Jones have to go.
“They are likely to be on high wages and just simply aren’t justifying their wage packets.
“The club need to tie Keiren Westwood down to a new deal too – he may be getting old, but he is a fans’ favourite and still a very good goalkeeper.”
“Money is an issue at present so the biggest earners will need to be off to maximise income to get players that are just as good, and cheaper to come in.
“Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper are two that come to mind that could go, with Jordan Rhodes, too, still on the books likely to leave in the summer.
“Steven Fletcher is another I can see departing.
“That would free up some money for new additions as well as keeping young players for the new season.
“The likes of Tom Lees will need to stay put, as well as Kerien Westwood, Barry Bannan and Adam Reach.
“Build the team around that spine and from there.”
