Quoted by the London Evening Standard, Lee Bowyer has discussed the speculation around yet another takeover at Charlton Athletic and has said that his focus is solely on the team right now.

Indeed, Bowyer's concentration levels have been tested to the max several times during his period in charge of Charlton but, on the whole, he has done a fine job and has got them back into the second tier.

However, he'll want to make sure that that work is not undone this summer, with them fighting for survival in the Championship.

And, with all the discussion currently floating around the club and yet another change in the boardroom, Bowyer has once again affirmed that his focus is purely on the playing staff and getting them back fit.

He said:

“I can’t tell you any more, those things are happening behind the scenes, I try to keep my distance from it. My job is the team. Obviously for the club to move forward we need someone to give us some stability.

“At the moment, I don’t know what’s going on but if something happens hopefully it brings us stability.

“If not, I hope it gets resolved one way or the other with the people that are there at the moment, and we get stability that way. That’s my only concern. I try to stay away from it if I can.”

The Verdict

Bowyer has done a fine job in charge of Charlton and getting them to safety after all that has gone on this season would be another feather in his cap.

It has been a typically eventful few months for the Addicks and we appear, potentially, near some kind of resolution.

For the sake of all the good work that has been done at the club, let's hope that that proves the case.
