Bournemouth could have winger David Brooks available for their clash with Derby County at The Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon, manager Jason Tindall has revealed.

Brooks' future was the focus of much speculation over the summer transfer window, but ultimately the winger remained on the south coast, although he has missed the Cherries last six games through injury.

That however, could be about to change this weekend, with Tindall confirming that the Wales international is in contention to face Derby.

Providing an update on Brooks ahead of the game, Tindall told the Bournemouth Daily Echo: “Brooksy is in the squad and available.

"In the past couple of weeks I’ve said I think it was important that he trained really hard to get himself in a place that, when he is back involved, he stays involved. He is ready to be involved.

“I feel he’s where he needs to be at this current time and is back in the squad.”

Discussing the lift that Brooks' return could give his side, Tindall went on to add: “It’s a big boost for everyone, for the football club in general I think it’s a big boost to have a player of Brooksy’s quality and availability to be back involved with the squad.”

Following Reading's defeat away to Coventry on Friday night, Bournemouth go into this game with the only remaining unbeaten record in the Championship this season, and could close the gap on the Royals at the top of the table to three points with victory over Derby.

The Verdict

What a boost this would be for Bournemouth if Brooks is able to return against Derby.

The winger is a hugely influential figure for the Cherries, and will be another big threat for them to pose to Phillips Cocu's side.

Indeed, after so long on the sidelines since the start of last season, the fact he could now be set for another return to action on Saturday will no doubt be a big relief for the player himself as well.

However, you do feel Bournemouth will have to be slightly careful with Brooks here, as they are not going to risk any unnecessary damage here that could subsequently extend his absence even further.
