QPR face a tricky test on Saturday, when they take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate, as they look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

It will be the second meeting between the two teams in the space of a week, after the Hoops beat Lee Johnson's side on penalties in the Carabao Cup after a thrilling 3-3 draw after 90 minutes.

Football League World's QPR fan pundit, Joshua Willocks has issued his thoughts ahead of the game, and is pleased with how the early stages of the season have panned out so far.

"Obviously it's early days, but there's definitely a sense of optimism around the fanbase after some encouraging results to start the season.

"Warburton's 'attacking philosophy' of high intensity possession based football is yet to be perfected but we have seen in certain passages that this group of players is fully capable of playing out from the back with confidence as shown with our excellent team goal in the 2-1 win over Stoke City."

The QPR fan pundit has been impressed with what he has seen from his team, and insists that there is a belief in the squad that they can perform better than they did in last year's league campaign.

"Under this new manager, the team seem to have this new found belief and drive and there's finally competition in several positions around the pitch, highlighting the depth of this squad and the fact that players must consistently perform to earn their place in the team.

"Conceding three goals against Bristol City in the Carabao Cup earlier in the week does raise some questions about our defence but after being victorious in the dramatic penalty shootout, we should feel confident about our chances at Ashton Gate."

Willocks highlighted Kasey Palmer as a player that QPR will need to be wary of on the day, with the former Chelsea man looking bright in his first few games for Lee Johnson's side this season.

"Kasey Palmer has impressed in Bristol City's first two league matches and his link up play with Benik Afobe in their 1-1 draw with Birmingham City proves he is one to watch on Saturday. With his vision and passing ability, he has that quality to find forwards in dangerous positions and ask questions of our defence.

"A good ball over the top could be our downfall with our sluggish defenders and our midfielders have to stay tight on Palmer throughout the game and keep him from creating any goalscoring opportunities."

One player that has been hugely impressive so far this season for QPR is Eberechi Eze, who Willocks pointed out as the ideal player to provide the creative spark after Luke Freeman left for Sheffield United.

"This is a big season for Eberechi Eze after a disappointing end to his 2018/2019 campaign but he's been in terrific form in the opening stages of the season and he might finally be fulfilling his long standing potential.

"With Luke Freeman gone, Eze is now that standout midfielder proving the goal threat and on his day he is easily the most technically gifted player in the squad.

"His ability to beat players makes him a threat whenever he's on the pitch and Bristol City must be switched on as soon as he picks up the ball."

Willocks has high hopes for his teams chances of coming away from Ashton Gate with a positive result, but wouldn't be surprised to see the spoils shared on the day.

"It's so difficult to predict the outcome of a match when teams are still finding their feet and adjusting to the new season but I think the quality of both teams will balance out for a 1-1 draw.

"Even with the weakened line-ups, it's clear after watching the game on Tuesday that both teams are well matched and QPR will have to be clinical in front of goal if they are to get anything from the game.

"We do posses a lot of attacking threat in the form of Eze, Hugill and Wells and with defender Bailey Wright currently sidelined with a thigh injury, I think if any team picks up the three points it will be us."
