‘Bossed that second half’, ‘Absolutley unreal’ – Villa fans react after forgotten man delivers big performance

Aston Villa produced a fine performance to secure a fully deserved three points against Nottingham Forest yesterday with the winning goal coming from Scott Hogan.

Steve Bruce’s men controlled large parts of the game and rarely looked troubled after Hogan’s opener in the first half.

And, another pleasing aspect was the performance of Icelandic international Birkir Bjarnason. The midfielder replaced Glenn Whelan at the break and looked assured in the middle of the park.

He used the ball well and allowed Villa to dictate the tempo, ensuring Forest couldn’t get any momentum going in the game.

Bjarnason has seriously struggled at Villa since arriving from Basel and has regularly been linked with a move away. In fairness to the 29-year old he has been used in various positions including left-back and left-midfield.

However, after the positive performance yesterday many Villa fans took to twitter to praise the his showing in central-midfield…
