New Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga is refusing to take all the credit for his match winning goals, according to a report by the Nottingham Post.

The £15m man, who signed for Boro during the summer transfer window from Nottingham Forest, has got his season off to a cracking start, hitting four goals already and bagging two yesterday as Boro ran out 2-0 winners at Bolton Wanderers.

However, the impressive striker was keen to deflect the praise onto his teammates, saying:

“It's the team that goes up, not the individual - and that's what we're here for.”

Assombalonga was keen to mention midfielder Adama Traore for specific praise, with the pacey winger being responsible for laying the striker's goals on a plate for him yesterday afternoon.

"It's not just me, it's the team - and especially Adama," added the forward.

Boro are into the top six following their three points yesterday and manager Garry Monk will be encouraged by what he has been seeing so far, especially from his new striker.

The Verdict

Boro are certainly looking like they are on track to win promotion, and if Assombalonga can keep hitting the back of the net then there's every chance they can bag the title.

Garry Monk will be keen for his side to keep improving though, and he will know they cannot rest on their laurels.
