Middlesbrough are favourites to sign Robert Huth this summer following the defender’s release from Leicester City at the end of last season.

Leicester confirmed that Huth would be leaving the King Power Stadium earlier in the summer, with the defender ending a three-and-a-half-year association with the Foxes, which saw him win a Premier League title.

According to the Daily Mail (13/06, 14:37), Middlesbrough are favourites to re-sign the defender this summer, with Tony Pulis keen to bring Huth back to the Riverside Stadium.

Aston Villa, Derby County and West Bromwich Albion have also been credited with an interest in the 33-year-old, but it seems Boro are favourites to sign the free agent.

Huth has made over 400 appearances during his career and represented Boro between 2006 and 2009.

During his spell at the Riverside, Huth made 63 appearances for the Teessiders, scoring two goals.

Pulis is looking to reshape his Middlesbrough squad ahead of next season, as he looks to guide his side back to the Premier League.

Boro finished last season in fifth but failed to progress past Aston Villa in the play-off semi-finals.

The Verdict

There will be plenty of Championship clubs keen to take Huth on board following his release from Leicester.

The 33-year-old has a wealth of experience and would be a good addition to many in the Championship.

For Boro, it would be another show of Pulis looking to add more experience to his squad.

Landing the defender ahead of a number of rivals would be a coup.
