Wayne Rooney has issued a clear instruction to his Derby County players ahead of tonight's clash with Huddersfield Town at Pride Park.

The Rams will look to return to winning ways and pick up a vital three points against Huddersfield this evening, in what is shaping up to be a hugely important game towards the bottom end of the Championship table.

The night will also see two former Derby players Duane Holmes and Richard Keogh return to Pride Park for the first time since leaving the club.

Holmes left Pride Park for Huddersfield last month after falling out of favour under Rooney, securing a return to West Yorkshire for an undisclosed fee.

Keogh, meanwhile, was sacked by Derby back in October 2019 after being involved in an alcohol-related incident which saw him sustain knee ligament damage.

Wayne Rooney, speaking to BBC Derby, has revealed that he has instructed his players not to talk to the two former Rams ahead of kick-off tonight.

He said: "I'm sure for Richard Keogh and Duane Holmes, there'll be two players coming back who will be focused on their jobs for Huddersfield.

"I've said to my players that I don't want to see anyone speaking to them before the game. If they want to speak and catch up they can do that after the game, but before the game we need to focus on our jobs.

"We have to focus on ourselves and that's it. After the game, they can talk about what they want. It's important we keep our attention and focus to ourselves."

Keogh and Holmes were two key players for Derby during their spells at Pride Park, and here, we take a look at fans' reactions to Rooney's comments...
