Sheffield Wednesday forward Gary Hooper is back in full training with the first-team as he looks to get out playing once again.

The former Celtic man has had terrible luck with injuries over the past few years and he is yet to play a game this season.

His last taste of competitive football came in December 2017, when the Owls played Nottingham Forest, so it has been an extremely tough spell for the 31-year-old.

However, the club posted a picture of the striker in action today as he looks to get back up to speed after such a long lay-off.

Obviously, you would imagine the club will be very patient with Hooper, who is out of contract this summer, but he will now be targeting to get some sort of game time before the end of the season.

As well as that, he will be hoping to impress new boss Steve Bruce who will already be planning for next season.

Prior to his injury, he had established himself as the main number nine at the club, scoring ten goals in 24 league games.

The Verdict

This is great news for Hooper and you have to be delighted with him. He has had rotten luck with injuries and to be out for over a year is awful.

It shows his mental strength that he has stuck at it and he will be enjoying just training with his teammates once again.

The target now will be to get some first-team football ahead of an uncertain summer for the striker.
