In-demand Portsmouth winger Jamal Lowe is expected to leave the south coast club after they failed to win promotion to the Championship.

That's according to the Daily Star, who claim that Leeds United, Middlesbrough and West Brom have been showing an interest in the player after his fine season.

The 25-year-old was Pompey's top scorer, scoring 15 goals for Kenny Jackett's men as they pushed for promotion.

However, they fell short on Thursday, losing 1-0 to Sunderland over two legs, which condemned them to another campaign in the third-tier.

Lowe was surprisingly left out of the second leg at Fratton Park and even though he came on as a second half substitute he couldn't inspire his side to the victory needed to take the game to extra time.

That could lead to a scramble for his signature and Leeds will be on the lookout for new additions in the final third after their own play-off disappointment.

Izzy Brown and Jack Harrison will both return to their parent clubs after loan spells, whilst Marcelo Bielsa wasn't working with the biggest squad anyway.

The Verdict

The play-off defeat will have been a bitter blow for Pompey and Lowe after such a strong season but these things happen in football.

The winger may have to be selfish now and he could look to move to further his career and a move to Leeds, Boro or Albion will certainly appeal.

At 25, he is approaching his peak and he would certainly help all of those teams with his pace and ability on the ball.
