Burnley have leaped to the front of the queue in the race to sign Brentford winger Jota, according to reports.

Get West London is reporting that betting company Sky Bet have made Burnley the favourites to sign Jota despite interest from a number of their Premier League rivals.

Jota was inspirational for Brentford in the second half of last season.

The Spaniard returned from his spell on loan at Eibar and weighed in with an incredible tally of twelve goals and five assists in just 21 games for the Bees.

Jota was exciting on the wing with his pace, skill and direct approach.

His performances did not go unnoticed and he has reportedly been attracting interest from a number of Premier League sides.

As well as Burnley, West Ham United, Newcastle United and Everton have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old winger this summer.

At the end of last season, Brentford exercised a deal in Jota's contract to extend his stay at Griffin Park by another twelve months.

However, Jota may still move on if Brentford receive a decent fee from a Premier League side for his services.

Burnley have now emerged as the front runners to complete the signing of the Spanish play maker as they aim to improve their squad ahead of their second season in the Premier League.
