Portsmouth have revealed that they have sold more than 42,500 tickets to their supporters for the upcoming EFL Trophy final at Wembley, which has drawn an excited response from fans of the South Coast club.

Kenny Jackett's side head back to the nation's capital for the second consecutive year as they look to retain the trophy.

Pompey beat Sunderland 5-4 on penalties in the final of the competition last season and will be hoping to claim back-to-back wins when they face League Two side Salford City in May.

Jackett's side will undoubtedly be favourites considering that they're currently 29 league places above Salford in the EFL pyramid.

Tickets have not yet been released on general sale but it appears the appetite amongst Pompey fans is huge as it was announced by the club on Tuesday that more than 42,500 tickets have been sold.

Jackett is searching for his third win in the competition, having won it last year with Portsmouth and with Swansea City in 2006.
