After a superb start to the season, Bolton have fallen away and currently find themselves back where they spent most of last season, in a relegation battle.

Three wins and a draw win their opening four matches gave fans hope that maybe Phil Parkinson had stumbled on a method that could bring some success.

Sadly their form since then has been horrific, collecting as many points in twelve matches as their first three. They've one win to add to the early season victories, leaving them in a perilous position.

They've got some good players, perhaps not quite enough to ensure a season of safety, but still assets who may have a say in their fate this season. Phil Parkinson will need everyone pulling in the same direction, but FLW thinks these three will be as valuable as any.

Hobbs was cast aside by Forest this summer after serving them well over the last few years, but he's rebuilding his career with Bolton and looks a very shrewd acquisition.

Hobbs is a leader, a powerful central defender who reads the game superbly.  He might be 30, but in terms of what he can offer the side he's certainly an asset.

Doidge is on loan with a view to a move and although he's not settled as yet, he's got to be a valuable asset.

He's cost a seven-figure sum and when he does settle, could well bring them much more in return. He scored goals for fun in League Two with Forest Green and if the Trotters investment pays off, he could fire them up the division.

27-year old Lowe is putting the hard yards in at the Macron this year, working incredibly hard in a constantly over run midfield.

He can operate in midfield or at right back and has spent much of his career with Blackburn.

In a side struggling for quality, he is one who shows composure and determination in equal measure.
