Phil Parkinson is set to be boosted by Darren Pratley’s return to action this weekend, with the Bolton Wanderers captain making a sensational recovery from a fractured leg.

The Bolton News have confirmed that Pratley is back in training and could be in contention to face Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend, despite fracturing his leg on New Year’s Day against Hull City.

The midfielder has missed six fixtures, but looks set to return in the near future, handing Parkinson and his side a major boost as they look to edge further away from the Championship’s relegation zone.

Pratley missed the FA Cup defeat to Huddersfield Town, whilst also missing a further five Championship fixtures, with Parkinson’s side managing to pick up five points from a possible 15 to boost their survival hopes.

The experienced 32-year-old, who has featured on 25 occasions across all competition this season, will be returning to a side currently sitting 19th in the Championship table and giving an excellent account of themselves on their second-tier return.

The Trotters are two points clear of Barnsley, who occupy the third relegation place, and face QPR at Loftus Road this weekend.

The Verdict

Pratley’s experience is key for Bolton, and the midfielder’s return is sure to be a huge boost for Parkinson at this stage of the season.

After a fractured leg at the start of 2018, Bolton and their supporters will have been left worried about Pratley’s potential lengthy absence, however, getting him back so soon can only be seen as a positive.
