Bolton, having been all the way up to the promised land of the Premier League and back again, have seen their fair share of young talents over the years.

Plenty have passed through the doors at the club, who are now in League One.

They've taken on some of the best teams in football and have seen them off and there have been plenty of faces along the way that have debuted for Wanderers as a teen and gone on to thrive.

Others haven't had quite as success as perhaps expected when they appeared for Bolton and bagged a goal.

Who then, are their 10 youngest goalscorers - and where are they now?

Ronan Darcy is the first on this list, with the youngster having bagged in a 5-2 EFL Cup defeat to Rochdale.

He's still on the books with Wanderers now but has spent time this campaign on loan at Queen's Park in Scotland rather than staying in England.

He's been involved near the first-team since 2018 and whilst he has racked up 29 appearances for the club so far, he's had to go out on various loan spells so far to get the regular action he wants.

After looking fairly decent in Scotland this year though, he could prove to be a future star for Bolton.

Gordon Taylor is up next. He spent nearly a decade with Bolton, during which time he bagged his goal in a defeat to Nottingham Forest back in 1963. He's since retired.

Taylor though was a Wanderers regular and managed just over 250 games for the club during his time there.

He even managed a stint with Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada, so managed to get about a bit, with his only other excursions being throughout the North West to the likes of Bury, Blackburn and then further down to Birmingham.

Another familiar face now for Bolton fans. Senior scored in a 2-1 loss to Shrewsbury back in 2020. He too remains with Wanderers and could play a bigger role soon.

The fact he has bagged a goal already - and has been put in the first-team to do so - shows that he could again be another future star for Bolton.

He's not played much for the club yet but spells with Ashton United, York City and Chorley have provided more frequent action. He could now return to Wanderers more developed and ready to play a more prominent role.

Heading back to the 1960s now, Phythian bagged in a 2-2 draw with Huddersfield back when Bolton were in the First Division. He eventually left the club to join Wrexham.

He only ever managed ten appearances for Bolton and whilst those showings produced three goals, he spent the vast majority of his career plying his trade for Wrexham in over 100 games.

He went on to feature even more for Hartlepool United.

Both clubs gave him more action than Wanderers ever could but he'll go down in history for the age at which he bagged a Bolton goal.

Despite being a left-back, David Burke bagged a goal against Chelsea to put his name on this list. That came back in 1979 and he went on to leave the club for Huddersfield before returning less than ten years later. He has since retired.

He made his debut as an 18-year-old and the sky looked to be the limit at Bolton for the player.

He only managed to make 68 appearances at the club though before trebling that figure of games for his next team Huddersfield. An eventual return back to the North West and to Wanderers went much better, as he added 106 more games to his belt with the side and ended his career with Blackpool.

A name that will certainly be familiar to many, Kevin Nolan bagged all the way back in 2000 as Bolton battered Crewe 4-1. At just 18-years-old, he had burst onto the scene at the club. Now, the former attacking midfielder is in management and has been in charge at Leyton Orient and Notts County so far. He is currently an assistant at West Ham.

Nolan is familiar to many who watched the Premier League during Bolton's heyday in the top flight and he was a key figure for them throughout that period.

Not many can say they played in nearly 300 games for the club, nor can many say they contributed quite as much to the side as he did. It led to another century of showings for West Ham - showing that he was not merely a one-trick and one-club pony.

Five years later in 2005, it was Vaz Te's turn to put his name on the list. He guided his side to a 1-0 win over Oldham in the FA Cup for this strike and went on to play over 50 times for Bolton. He most recently played for Portimonense in Portugal but is currently without a club.

It's been up and down for Vaz Te, with many holding high hopes for the player when he bagged that goal as a youngster for Bolton. A stint with Hibs in Scotland didn't go too well and he was given a lifeline in England again by Barnsley and then West Ham and whilst he continued to bag goals fairly often, he departed and has been around the world ever since.

It may always be a case of what might have been for Jack Wilshere. The midfielder was viewed as a very promising young talent and during a loan stint with Bolton, he found the back of the net in a 2-1 win over West Ham despite being barely 18. He now plays in Denmark for AGF.

The midfielder had the world at his feet with Arsenal and after some bright showings for Bolton, including his goal, it looked like he would run the Gunners engine room for quite some time. He did manage 125 appearances for them in total but injuries have hampered his career and after trying to rejuvenate his career at West Ham and then Bournemouth, he has now turned to a side away from England.

At just 17-years-old, Brian Bromley found the back of the net in a 4-3 defeat to Arsenal. It came all the way back in 1963 in a First Division clash and the midfielder eventually joined Portsmouth (and then rivals Wigan too).

He may have ended his career with their fierce rivals but it was with Bolton where he found the most joy as a player and at least contributed the most. 166 showings led to 25 goals and it was a fine return for someone who mainly played in the middle. He even carried on his fine form for Portsmouth but after those initial two sides, it was downhill from there.

The youngest player to ever score for Bolton - a record that might not be broken for a while - goes to Francis Lee. The forward scored in a 3-1 win over Man City back in 1960 despite his youth and he would go on to join the team he scored against before moving to Derby and then retiring in 1976.

Lee though burst onto the scene with Bolton and would feature heavily for them for nearly a decade. It wasn't to be the pinnacle of his career though - he would rack up the most appearances for Man City and will be fondly remembered by both sets of supporters for the work he did with them both. He no longer plays or manages but will always be remembered as the youngest goalscorer for Wanderers.
