Bolton Wanderers are said to be interested in signing Burnley youngster Jimmy Dunne on loan according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Dunne is yet to feature for Burnley's first-team this season, and it seems highly unlikely that he'll be anywhere near their starting XI with competition for places high in Sean Dyche's squad at this moment in time.

Bolton have recently confirmed that both Josh Earl and Jake Wright have been recalled early from their loan spells at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Dunne has recently been recalled from a loan spell of his own, as he spent the first-half of this year's campaign with League One side Fleetwood Town.

In total, he made nine league appearances for Joey Barton's side, but his recall could hint that Burnley are set to send him back out on loan to a club where game time is likely on a more regular basis.

Bolton could offer that as well, with Keith Hill's side struggling for numbers at times this season, with the Trotters boss having to rely on the club's young players to field teams this term.

Bolton are next in action on Saturday when they take on Rochdale, in a game where they'll be hoping to pick up a much-needed three points.

How much can you remember about Bolton's previous cup exploits?

The Verdict:

This could be a smart signing for Keith Hill's side.

Dunne isn't going to be featuring for Burnley's first-team anytime soon, and he'll be keen to make a name for himself in senior football at the earliest of opportunities.

Bolton could be the ideal club to offer him that, especially after having players recently return to their parent clubs after loan spells with the Trotters.
