Following consecutive relegations, which has seen them go from playing in the Championship to League Two in the space 15 months, Bolton are finally beginning to show some encouraging signs in recent weeks under Ian Evatt.

Saturday's win over Southend United was the Whites' fourth consecutive league success, their best run for almost four years - and a set of results which has moved Ian Evatt's side up to 10th in the fourth-tier standings.

Bolton will be hoping to extend their winning sequence to five when they host Port Vale this weekend, but manager Evatt revealed some rather damaging injury news ahead of the game.

He confirmed that striker Shaun Miller has received the results of his recent scan on his the hamstring injury he sustained in training, and is facing up to five months on the sidelines.

Having joined from Morecambe in the summer window, Miller has scored once in eight appearances, but Evatt confirmed that the 33-year-old is likely to be ruled out until around April.

"I think we are looking at March or April time for Shaun," the Wanderers boss told the Bolton News. "It's really disappointing because he'd looked great.

"We were at the end of a training session doing a bit of a combination finishing drill last Thursday and with the very last kick he toe-poked one towards goal and that was that. It seemed innocuous at the time but we have had it scanned and it's quite a serious tear to his rec fem.

"It is disappointing but we have to wish him well and hope he can get ahead of the time he has been allotted to recover."

The Verdict

Whilst you never want to lose players at any time in the calendar, let alone ahead of the Christmas and New Year period, the one position Bolton are well covered in his up front in the short-term.

Evatt has strikers in Eoin Doyle and Nathan Delfouneso, who're both already on six goals for the campaign, although in a shortened campaign, the Bolton boss might well consider boosting his attacking options in the January window.
