Bolton Wanderers are set to make a Deadline Day loan bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Liam Bridcutt according to The Bolton News.

The report claims that Bridcutt has had other offers in this month's transfer window, but a move elsewhere has failed to materialise at this moment in time.

Bridcutt spent the first-half of this year's campaign on loan with the Trotters, as they continue to struggle in their survival bid in League One this season.

The 30-year-old made 12 appearances in total for Bolton, before returning to the City Ground when his loan at the University of Bolton Stadium expired earlier this month.

Bolton are currently sat bottom of the League One table, and are 20 points adrift of safety, with it looking likely that they will be relegated into League Two by the end of this year's campaign.

In a recent interview, Bolton boss Keith Hill issued an update on their pursuit of Bridcutt, and insisted that the Reds midfielder is welcome to return to the club.

"There are a certain amount of restrictions and we got it done last time with Liam but we know it might go down to the last minute this time. He is always welcome back here."

With the January transfer window set to slam shut at 11pm on Friday evening, it looks as though Bolton's transfer dealings will go right down to the wire.

The Verdict:

This will have been a no-brainer for Keith Hill.

Bridcutt was a rare bright spark in a disappointing first-half of the season with Bolton, and he'll be keen to find regular game time in the near future.

The midfielder won't be getting that with Nottingham Forest this term, so a move back to Bolton would be the best move for both parties involved.

Again, this would be somewhat of a coup for Hill's side with the transfer window set to slam shut on Friday evening.
