Bolton Wanderers are reportedly interested in signing Swindon Town forward Eoin Doyle according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Nixon claims that the Trotters have made a 'good offer' already for the striker, but also states that there are a number of other clubs interested in signing the 32-year-old.

The forward made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Robins in their promotion-winning campaign in League Two this term, and it appears as though his strong performances haven't gone unnoticed.

Doyle scored 26 goals in total in the 2019/20 season, and will surely be looking at having his long-term future resolved at the earliest of opportunities.

The Irishman only made his loan spell a permanent stay with Swindon in the January transfer window, although it seems as though his future remains 'up in the air' as they prepare for life back in the third tier.

Bolton are preparing for life in the fourth tier of English football after their relegation from League One was confirmed earlier this year after the majority of clubs in the third tier agreed to curtail this year's campaign early on a PPG (points per game) basis.

The Verdict:

This would be a brilliant signing by the Trotters.

Doyle has a proven record in League Two, and he's exactly the type of player that the club need to be targeting heading into the summer transfer window.

If they're serious about returning to the third tier at the first time of asking, then they need to sign a striker that knows where the back of the net is at that level.

Doyle fits that description perfectly, and will be keen to replicate the impressive season he had with Swindon Town this term, having scored 26 goals in all competitions for the Robins.
