Also on the same afternoon, Northampton Town were promoted up into League One after an outstanding season which has seen them dominate Sky Bet League Two.

Bolton, who are currently without a manager, have set their sights on Cobblers boss Chris Wilder according to BBC Radio Manchester.

He has had an outstanding spell at Northampton. Since taking charge at the start of 2014, he has around about a 48% win rate which is an extremely respectable rate.

Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson spoke out on Monday saying that the club had a shortlist of three managers from applications they had received, and that they hope to make an appointment soon.

To appoint the ex-Oxford boss who has been so successful would seemingly be a very good appointment for Bolton, and the ongoing financial difficulties at the club would not be anything new for Wilder.

Northampton have suffered this season as they nearly fell into administration so the 48-year-old manager has experience in that field.

Bolton fans…Do you want to see Wilder appointed? If not, who do you want to see appointed? Have your say down below!
