Joe Pritchard has become the latest player to depart Bolton Wanderers following their disastrous Championship campaign last season, after Accrington Stanley announced the signing of the midfielder on a two year deal.

The 22-year-old had only moved to the University of Bolton Stadium last summer following his release from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, and made just five appearances in all competitions as Phil Parkinson's side were relegated to League One after winning just eight games and scoring a league low 29 goals in the Championship this season.

Reacting to the of Pritchard's signing, Stanley manager John Coleman told the club's official website: “I looked at him when he played for Bolton Under-23s, he broke into their first team last season and I have tracked his progress. When he became available it was a good fit for both parties."

Pritchard is not the first player to leave Bolton - who are now in administration following a string of financial problems this year - with defender Mark Beevers having joined Peterborough, and Pawel Olkowski and Sammy Ameobi both handing their notices in at the club following a number of instances of unpaid wages throughout the season.

The verdict

The problems at Bolton show no sign alleviating.

It is interesting to see that despite the difference in size and how they have got to League One next season, Accrington appears to have been the more appealing destination for Pritchard for next season.

With thhe uncertainty that continues to surround Bolton and the 12 point deduction they face for next season, you feel Pritchard won't be the last to leave the club either.
