When Max Clayton saw his header palmed away by Town keeper Dean Gerken after less than two minutes, Wanderers fans must have thought that tonight would be the night in which they recorded their first away win of the season and just their third of 2015.

However, when Maitland-Niles scored the Tractor Boys' first of the night after 13 minutes, the Trotters fell apart, with Ipswich taking control of the game from then on.

Former club captain Jay Spearing spoke to their Official Website after their seventh loss of the campaign, as he showed his frustration of their missed opportunities.

“We’ve had a few chances but we’re just not taking them,” the midfielder told bwfc.co.uk. “In the final third we’re not putting the ball in the back of the net and that is causing us a lot of problems.
“That’s been the story in a few games we’ve had recently. It’s disappointing. I think we were actually on top in the game apart from a ten-minute sticky patch.
“We played some nice stuff and created a few chances that we probably should have put in the back of the net. It’s all about goals and finishing teams off and we’re just not doing that at the moment.”
Bolton currently sit 22nd in the Championship, after claiming just one win in their last 20 games, stretching back to last season, meaning they have won just 12 out of 60 points.

They welcome Bristol City to the Macron Stadium on Saturday, who sit just one place above the whites, in what is a crucial game for the former European club and their under pressure boss Neil Lennon.
