Bolton Wanderers keen on signing 24-year-old Premier League man

Bolton Wanderers are keen on signing Watford defender Tommie Hoban, according to a reliable football journalist.

Alan Nixon reports that Watford are willing to loan Hoban out with Bolton interested in bringing him to the club.

The Hornets want the 24-year-old to head out on loan to get some valuable playing time after a string of injuries have hampered his progress in recent years.

The 6ft 2in centre-half has only played 58 games in total for Watford, despite making his senior debut in 2011.

In the 2016/17 season, Hoban joined Blackburn Rovers on loan for the season, impressing when fit and scoring once in 16 games.

But at the beginning of last season, he suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, which kept him sidelined for the entire campaign.

The former Republic of Ireland under-21 international could now be set for a loan move to Bolton as he eyes a comeback from this latest serious injury.

The Verdict

It is such a shame that injuries have wrecked Hoban’s career to date.

The dominant and physical centre-half has looked fantastic when fully fit and he could have been an established Premier League defender by now.

If he can regain full fitness and stay injury free for a whole year, then he would undoubtedly improve Bolton’s defence, but this move is risky given his injury record.
