Bolton Wanderers have had no luck with injuries this season, and another injury blow has hit them this week with Ali Crawford picking up an injury which could leave him sidelined for some months.

Crawford jarred his knee in Bolton's 3-1 cup win over Manchester City u21s. Despite scoring after the fourth minute, Crawford was carried off on a stretcher later in the game and now looks set to miss the foreseeable future with Bolton.

Keith Hill will now face a tough challenge in trying to deal with Crawford's loss as Bolton entertain Fleetwood Town this Saturday with the aim of making it back to back league wins for the first time this season after beating Bristol Rovers 0-2. A win, in fact, would make it three straight wins in all competitions.

Crawford has been a regular since joining from Doncaster Rovers in the summer and manager Keith Hill has got another injury headache to contend with without his influential midfielder.

Bolton have had a bit of a baptism of fire in League One with all the off-the-field goings on but with stability finally off the pitch, the on the pitch matters seem to seeing more stability and Keith Hill is beginning to find some form with his Bolton squad.

Crawford is one player who has impressed this season proving his worth to the club with some important performances.

Featuring seven times in the league this campaign Crawford has become one of the first names on the team sheet, making an invaluable impact on the squad, contributing two goals this campaign with both coming in the EFL Trophy.

Crawford has chalked up three assists in the league this season, claiming two in the win over Bristol. Without his ability to create chances for Hill's side the club will need someone else to step up in Crawford's absence.

His injury has come at a really bad time for the player who was really beginning to hit form and also for the club who will be without a key man for potentially a sustained period of time.

Question marks have been put over Hill's decision to include Crawford in the EFL Trophy win over Manchester City but an injury sustained, which seemed innocuous when it happened could ultimately have sizeable implications for Bolton and Keith Hill.

The club can't catch a break at the moment, with a bit of momentum beginning to be built on the pitch another injury blow could threaten Bolton's little run they're putting together.

The details of Crawford's injury aren't yet completely clear, but it is expected that he will be out for a few months and that could be a real blow to their survival chances this term.

Naturally the Bolton faithful are going to be worried about another key player being side-lined this campaign and will most likely be crossing their fingers in hoping that he won't be out for too long.
