Northampton Town boss Chris Wilder is believed to be included on the shortlist of candidates that could take over at Bolton Wanderers, according to HITC.
Wanderers are without a manager after parting company with former Celtic manager Neil Lennon by mutual consent, just five days after the Sports Shield consortium finally completed their takeover of the club.
The club’s new owners are now planning to take the club in a new direction, starting with the manager’s position where Wilder is thought to be among the contenders.
The 48-year-old has started to build a reputation as one of the best young managers in the Football League, after guiding Oxford back into the Football League from the Conference and consolidating them in League Two before taking over at Northampton Town.
During his first campaign with the Cobblers, Wilder helped to keep Northampton up against all the odds in his first season in charge, with the League Two outfit currently favourites for promotion after finding themselves in first place 14 points ahead of Oxford in 2nd.
Bolton find themselves rooted to the bottom of the Championship table, 11 points from safety with just nine games left to play, and the new owners will now be focussed on preparing for life in League One, starting with a new manager, who may be able to mastermind a great escape.
