Bolton Wanderers are one of a number of sides interested in signing defender Alie Sesay, it has been reported by HITC.

Sesay was a member of Leicester City's academy but never made a senior appearance for The Foxes, and sent time on loan at Colchester and Cambridge before moving to Barnet on a permanent deal, where he made 20 appearances during the 2016/17 season.

The 24-year-old is now out of contract at Greek second division side Chania Kissamikos, and Bolton are said to be keen to bring the defender back to England as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to League One next season.

Completing the deal may not be easy for Bolton however, with Greek top division sides AEK Athens and Panathinaikos both also thought to be interested in Sesay, who can play in central midfield as well as defence.

The verdict

With Bolton looking set to have something of an exodus of their current squad on their hands in the summer, it feels as though any signing they make will be something of a boost for Wanderers.

The fact that Sesay can play in more than one position will also be useful for Bolton, as will his availability on a free given Bolton's precarious financial situation, although with them big Greek sides interested, it appears as though it could be a difficult task for Bolton to convince Sesay to return to England.
