Bolton Wanderers were dealt yet another blow on Tuesday when the club confirmed that striker Connor Hall and left-back Josh Earl were both set for spells on the sidelines.

Earl, who started the Trotters' opening match against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, was withdrawn after just 14 minutes with an ankle injury, the same afliction suffered by Hall, with both facing eight to 12 weeks out of action.

It makes a desperate situation all the more worse for Phil Parkinson, with Bolton only able to retain six first-team members from last season after a mass exodus of players following payment issues.

Other than Earl, James Weir is the only new signing to arrive at the Greater Manchester club this summer with the rest of the first-team squad made-up of under-23 players.

Wycombe claimed all three points on Saturday as well, with Paul Smyth and Fred Onyedinma doing enough for the Chairboys to claim a 2-0 win.

Next up for Parkinson and his side is a home clash with Coventry City.

The verdict

It is really just one thing after another for Bolton at the moment.

For most clubs, losing a young striker and an on-loan left-back would be irritating but not too damaging.

But for Bolton and Phil Parkinson, it represents an enormous headache as he is now faced with reshuffling his squad yet again for the Coventry clash.

However, on-field issues still remain a secondary issue  with so many problems off it still going unsolved and growing more and more menacing as each day passes.
