Manchester City youngster Bersant Celina looks set to snub Ipswich Town and Leeds United by signing for Bolton Wanderers, according to the man himself with Dagbladet (via Sport Witness).
The 20-year-old midfielder made his debut for the Citizens in an FA Cup third round clash with Norwich City back in 2016, but has only gone on to appear a further three times for the Manchester outfit since then.
And last season saw the Kosovo international spend the campaign on loan at Dutch side FC Twente, where he played 28 times and netted five goals to help the club to seventh place in the Eredivisie.
However, with it highly unlikely that Celina will get close to Pep Guardiola’s first team next term, he has been linked with another loan move in recent times, and only a few days ago admitted that he’ll likely join one of Bolton, Ipswich, or Leeds.
Yet recent comments from the 20-year-old indicate that his destination will be the North West and Phil Parkinson’s Bolton.
He said, when asked who he’d be joining: ‘Most likely, Bolton.’
These comments are sure to interest Trotters fans who will be relishing their side’s return to the Championship, having achieved automatic promotion from League One last season under former Bradford boss Parkinson.
And if Celina is indeed en route to the club for the 2017/18 campaign, they will be acquiring a player who scored five and laid on five assists for Twente last term, which demonstrates his excellent quality in the final third in one of Europe’s top leagues.
And if he can reproduce that form for Bolton, Parkinson could have a seriously top player on his hands.
