Donaldson, is set to become a free agent in the summer having rejected the offer of a contract extension from his club.

However, they have offered an improved deal but they are still waiting for a reply.

Bolton boss Dougie Freedman was reportedly quoted to have declared his interest but claims of the club’s interest in the 30-year old have been dismissed by various sources around the Reebok Stadium.

It is not known as to whom Bolton will turn to now but it is expected that Donaldson will leave Brentford for free in the summer.
