The Bolton squad have released a statement criticising owner Ken Anderson as they still wait for February's wages.

Anderson had promised the squad that they would be paid by today, however that has not happened.

And, the squad signed off on a statement that they sent to the Bolton News where they share their thoughts on the current situation: "We, as a group of players, feel extremely let down by Ken Anderson once again.

"We were promised on Friday that our wages and the staff wages would be paid to us by today (Monday). Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened. With no idea of when our wages will be paid our only option is to ask the PFA to take it up with the EFL and start proceedings on our behalf.

"Hopefully the issue gets resolved very soon so we can all move forward as a group and put all our focus into winning games of football and staying in the league."

Anderson is trying to sell the club with a consortium led by Parminder Basran thought to be in advanced talks to purchase the club.

Despite the off the field issues, Phil Parkinson's men beat Millwall on Saturday to move to within five points of safety.

The Verdict

You can understand why the players have released this statement and you have to feel sorry for them that they've been put in this situation.

At such a crucial period of the season, it's awful that they aren't able to completely focus on football.

Anderson needs to sort this out and stop making promises he can't keep.
