Bolton Wanderers are hopeful of extending Thibaud Verlinden's loan deal at the club.

The winger is currently on a six-month loan deal at the University of Bolton Stadium - an agreement which is currently due to expire after the New Year's Day fixture with Burton Albion.

Verlinden is a popular figure among the Trotters' supporters after netting on his debut for the club and fans will no doubt be keen to see the 20-year-old extend his stay.

Keith Hill was discussing the winger's future in his pre-match press conference and said that he'd love to keep the Belgian with the club.

Speaking to the press, as quoted by The Bolton News, Hill said: "We have spoken to Thibaud and if Stoke want him to stay then we’re more than happy to take up that opportunity.

“At this moment in time I’d imagine they want to have a look at him at close quarters – but that conversation will be had with Stoke over the next week or so.”

Do you know where these 15 ex-Bolton Wanderers players are playing now? Let's find out!

Asked if the winger could return to Stoke before coming back to Bolton, Hill said: “Potentially, yes, and I’ve had that before where a new manager came into a club and put a player out on loan, taken him back to take a look at him, then sent him out again later in the window.” The verdict If Bolton can extend Thibaud Verlinden's loan deal it will be a huge boost for the club. The Belgian has been a key figure under Keith Hill so far this term, and with first team opportunities unlikely at Stoke City, the hope is that the Potters agree that his future is better served with the Trotters.
