Bolton Wanderers’ chairman Ken Anderson has confirmed that the struggling Championship club tried a last-minute deal to bring back former player Lee Chung-Yong from Crystal Palace.

Anderson posted a note to the club, its fans, and the signings on Bolton’s official website where he admitted the club’s failure in bringing back their former star, he stated:

“We made an enquiry to bring our former player Chung-Yong Lee back on loan from Crystal Palace, but unfortunately they had no cover for him and we were unable to strike a deal.”

Bolton, along with Brentford, are currently rock bottom of the Championship with zero wins from their opening five games but the Wanderers have a less favourable goal difference than the Bees with minus six.

Phil Parkinson did have some success on deadline day, bringing in Craig Noone from Cardiff.

The Verdict

Here at FLW, we’re not too sure why Anderson and Bolton thought they would be able to pry Lee Chung-Yong away from Palace with mere hours left of the transfer window.

Of course they were going to have to line up a replacement and of course, they weren’t going to have the time to do so.

Bolton have had a decent transfer window but that isn’t showing in the results and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

The four months leading up to the January transfer window could feel like an eternity for Bolton fans.
