Bolton Wanderers manager Neil Lennon has expressed his concern regarding his attacking options, as he spoke to BBC Sport after their 4-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town yesterday.

Emile Heskey injured his hamstring in the defeat at Huddersfield, leaving Neil Lennon with only one fit striker

The Trotters started the season with only three available strikers, however that included a 37-year-old Emile Heskey and Zach Clough who had recently returned from a serious injury.

This has proved to be a major problem for the Whites, as they only scored one goal in the entire month of August, and Liam Feeney's goal yesterday was only their fourth of the season.

To make matters worse, academy graduate Clough was ruled out until the New Year, after he suffered a recurrence of his shoulder injury against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, before Heskey sustained a hamstring injury in yesterday's loss at the John Smith's Stadium, leaving Lennon with only Gary Madine at his disposal.

When asked about bringing in reinforcements to the squad, Lennon told the BBC: 'It's getting to the point now where Heskey is going to be out for a few weeks, Zach [Clough] is out for a long time.

'Clayton is almost there, but we may have to rush him back and get him in the squad. I'm looking for a physical player as we aren't getting enough out of Gary [Madine] at the minute.'

Bolton do however have former Crewe forward Max Clayton in their ranks, though he is still a few weeks away from full fitness after he sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament last November.

They also have youth players available to them, with 18-year-old Jamie Thomas registering five goals in seven appearances for the Under-21 side, but it seems that Lennon doesn't believe he is ready for first-team football yet,

However, the Bolton boss may be forced to bring the youngster into the first team if he is unable to bring a striker in during the loan window.

Bolton sit one place above the relegation zone in the Championship, having picked up just seven points from their opening eight matches.
